We have proposed a next-generation gamma-ray imaging method that estimates the direction of gamma-ray incidence from the spatial gradient of gamma-ray flux intensity inside the imager (three-dimensional shadow method). Simulations have already demonstrated the feasibility of the three-dimensional shadow method. In this study, a prototype of a compact gamma-ray imager (C3PO) with an 8-channel GAGG(Ce) scintillator and 18 lead cubes was constructed, and the method's validity was experimentally confirmed.
