The use of THz waves as a wireless carrier is being considered for next-generation mobile communications (6G), but existing electrical methods may face technical limitations (upper frequency limit). If carrier conversion from THz waves to near-infrared light can be realized, existing optical communication platforms can be used without modification. In order to realize this "all-optical THz detection," we are investigating the use of a micro-optical comb as an optical carrier and an electro-optical polymer (EOP) modulator as a THz/optical carrier converter.
