Terahertz chemical microscope is used to selectively detect only calcium ions from a sample in which multiple ions are present. The use of a terahertz wave chemical microscope allows measurements to be made without the use of a reference electrode, which is necessary in conventional ion measurements. The use of a reference electrode allows measurements to be made with a smaller sample volume.
