This presentation will show simulated results of electromagnetic modes excited in a superconducting mesa based on the effective medium approximation (EMA). By comparing the simulated results with previously measured experimental results for devices of the same geometry, the validity of applying EMA to the analysis of superconducting terahertz light sources will be evaluated. At the end of the presentation, guidelines for increasing the radiation power of superconducting terahertz light sources confirmed through this computational method will be proposed, and new device geometries will be suggested based on these guidelines.
