[17p-PA09-59] Scintillation Properties of Nd-doped Mg4Ta2O9 Single Crystals Synthesized by the FZ Method

Nd3+ ions are promising emission centres for near-infrared emission scintillators, as they emit light at 1060 nm, which is located in the second optical window of living organisms. In this study, Nd-doped Mg4Ta2O9 single crystals were prepared and their photoluminescence and scintillation properties were evaluated. In the X-ray-induced scintillation spectra in the near-infrared region, luminescence due to the 4f-4f transition of Nd3+ was observed around 900 nm, 1060 nm and 1340 nm.
