Carbon nanowalls fabricated by microwave plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MPCVD) were seeded with diamond nanoparticles, followed by short-time growth in MPCVD to prepare nanowall/nanoparticle hybrid structures. The measured field emission characteristics and the simulated field intensity distribution were compared to elucidate the mechanism of enhanced field emission by decorating nanoparticles.
