We designed solar-cell modules that constitute artificial photovoltaic devices with electrochemical reactors. The maximal power voltage (VMPP) is required to coincide with the operation voltage required for the target reactions (Vop = 1.5-1.7 V), contrasting to power maximization for electricity generation using power conditioners. Voltage-matched modules in which multiple cells are series-connected so that both VMPP values of the top and bottom modules are close to Vop achieve higher conversion efficiency than two-terminal modules whose VMPP is determined from the current matching condition between the top and bottom cells.
