To combat the rapid evolution and emergence of viruses, it is vital to develop antiviral coatings for virus inactivation. In this study, copper thin films have been proposed, inspired by cicada wings which exhibit mechano-bactericidal activity. The relation between nanostructures, surface oxidation states, and antiviral effects of copper thin films will be discussed at the presentation.
