[CS2-01] Experimental Investigation on Fatigue Performance Improvement of Repaired Patch Plate Joint by Post-Weld Heat Treatment with Induction Heating
Keywords:residual stress, post-weld heat treatment, induction heating, fatigue performance
A series of experiment on the patch plate welded joints was conducted by applying a PWHT with induction heating (IH) for fatigue life improvement of the repaired patch plate joints by stress relaxation of the tensile stress at the weld toe. Then, a four-point bending test was conducted under two loading conditions to examine the effect of PWHT on the fatigue life of the patch plate joints. It was noted that IH device used for PWHT had a high controllability of temperature for patch plate joints. Furthermore, the tensile residual stress could be reduced after PWHT and the fatigue life of the patch plate joints was prolonged by PWHT under both loading conditions.
