[III-83] A study of unsaturated seepage flow in the landfill with excavated rocks

Recently the environmental pollution with natural heavy metal is increasing. The excavated rocks with natural heavy metal have been shielded by the bentonite mixed soil for the construction of Oshikado tunnel. And the seepage water is drained by the drainage pipe in that landfill. We estimated the effect of the shield comparing the quantity of the drained water and that of the rainfall on the landfill. And we have simulated the unsaturated seepage flow in the landfill by the three dimensional finite element method. The quantity of the drained water may be simulated considering the included water of excavated rocks by this method. It was found that the shield by the bentonite mixed soil is effective.
