[VI-532] A study for the position of ball bearings on a slide baseplate in the 2000 type switches

*堀 雄一郎1 (1. JR東日本)

Keywords:the 2000 type switch and crossing, a ball bearing baseplate, remaining of a switch rail after switch throwing, a grid type sleeper, a switch throwing test

At the beginning of the introduction of the 2000 type turnout which was developed for the prevention of the switch failure and maintenance-saving by JR East, the excessive gap of the switch rail after switch throwing occurred. Therefore a switch throwing test was conducted to confirm the influence of the ball bearing setting position on a slide baseplate. In the test, the amount of the gap and the force of switch throwing were measured depending on the width and the height between a switch rail and ball bearings. As a result of the test, it was found that the optimal values are 2 or 3 mm wide and 4 mm high. After a design change, the amount of the remaining gap is improved to less than 3 mm in all 2000 type turnout.
