低レベル放射性廃棄物処分施設において検討されている覆土に関して，難透水性覆土および下部覆土として候補となる覆土の施工手順と施工品質の確認を行った．難透水性覆土に関しては，ピット外周部を対象とした．難透水性覆土の主要な機能である低透水性を確保するために，部材厚さを確保しつつ十分に締め固める必要がある．また，下部覆土に関しては，ピット間の狭隘部での施工を対象とした．ピット間は幅2.5mという空間的制約があるため，適用可能な施工機械での施工性と施工品質の確認が必要である．これら二つの条件を満足するかを確認するために施工試験を実施した．その結果，十分な締固め度での施工が可能であることが確認できた．
