Consideration on the method of avoiding numerucal instability and the analysis accuracy in 3D frame analysis of transmission towers
Recently in Japan, the design analysis of transmission tower has been shifting to 3D analysis, but overseas, a tower design program based on 3D analysis has been developed and put into practical use. A typical program is the "TOWER", but when applied in Japan, it is necessary to deal with differences in the settings of loads and allowable stresses, and measures to avoid instability mechanisms may be required. Here, from the practical viewpoint of tower design, we are studying to avoid numerical instability and to secure analysis accuracy and usability.
