In recent years, many damages due to corrosion of steel structures have been reported on the Metropolitan Expressway. As for the reinforcement of the caul plate for the corroded part, it is often necessary to examine the amount of thickness reduction of the member and each damaged part, and to individually examine the necessity of the caul plate using FEM analysis. In this paper, we examined the changes in the stress state of the steel piers used on the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway when the thickness reduction rate of the members was used as a parameter for the steel frame piers with steel columns. The necessity of reinforcement was examined.
