In the Nihonbashi River, untreated sewage discharged into the river during rainfall is causing a problem of deterioration of the waterside environment due to odors. In this study, a structure using granulated coal ash (Hi-base) was installed in a river. The effect of the improvement was verified and evaluated from the viewpoint of the habitat of living organisms. As a result, in the area where the Hi-beeds was laid, the sediment was improved. The habitat environment has been improved, and a variety of creatures can be inhabited around the Hi-beeds, and the waterside environment around the Nihonbashi River has been improved.
