高知県はクルーズツアーの燃料・物資補給の観点から好位置にあり，平成26年には大水深岸壁の整備により高知新港での大型外航クルーズ船の受け入れ環境が整備されたため，大型外航クルーズ船の来航が急増し，それに伴い，訪日クルーズ船客が増加している．
今後も高知県のクルーズ市場は拡大していくと予想されるが，訪日クルーズ船客がどういった観光地域にニーズや希望を持っているかという知見がなく，高知県の観光地域を最大限に活用しきれていない．したがって，訪日クルーズ船客からみた観光地域の価値を把握することが高知県の観光振興につながる.
そこで本研究は訪日クルーズ船客からみた観光地域の価値評価をすることを目的とする.
