[IV-101] Research on holding of handrail of the escalator

Holding of handrail while riding on the escalator is essential for the safety. However, few people hold the handrail of the escalator. In this study, the phenomenon of holding of handrail of the escalator were observed at 3 subway stations with 8 escalators. As a result, use of smart phones while riding on the escalator, jender and up-down were main factors that affect holding of handrail of the escalators.
