[V-643] Analytical Study for Reduction of Torsional Stiffness on RC Pier Column subjected to Torsional Moment
Keywords:Bridge Planning, Pier Column, Torsional Moment, Reduction of Torsional Stiffness, 3D Nonlinear FEM Analysis
When planning a highway bridge, it is sometimes necessary to install a pier at a position where the pier height is uneven and the span length is unbalanced in the continuous rigid frame structure. When performing dynamic analysis in the practice of seismic design, the torsional stiffness is set to about 1/10 to 1/20 of the initial stiffness in consideration of the decrease in torsional rigidity after the occurrence of torsional cracks.
In this report, the relationship between the torsional moment and the torsion rate acting on the model reinforced concrete pier column and the state of torsional rigidity decrease, directly evaluated by applying 3D nonlinear FEM analysis, are reported.
