Aged steel poles for road lighting often suffer from corrosions near the road surface, but manual destructive checking of many poles is costly for local authorities. This report compares corrosion levels derived using unique nondestructive testing techniques and destructive corrosion data obtained in surveys by Fujisawa and Yokosuka city authorities, and the calibration of sensor signals in terms of corrosion depth are discussed.
