This paper presents a fast multipole boundary element method for large scale three-dimensional sound field analysis. The unsteady wave equation is employed for the governing equation and the hybrid parallel computing method based on MPI and OpenMP is employed for the parallelization. The present method is applied to the large scale problem to investigate the effect of tip end shape of traffic noise barriers.
