[S02E-05] Extended B-spline-based Implicit Material Point Method for Elasto-plastic Analyses
Keywords:Implicit MPM, Extended B-spline Basis Function, Elasto-plasticity, Imcompressibility, Nitsche's Method
The extended B-spline-based implicit material point method (EBS-MPM) is applied to accommodate elastic constitutive laws and its performance is verified in terms of accuracy and numerical stability. The Nitsche’s method is employed to handle various types of boundary condition with a view to applying the EBS-MPM to large deformation and collapse analyses ground structures. We carry out several verification analyses, in which both low and higher-order polynomials are adopted for the basis functions to illustrate the calculation accuracy and the ability to suppress the volumetric locking due to the incompressibility in plastic deformation in comparison with the results by the finite element method.
