In this study, the numerical study was performed for the effect of notches on fatigue strength of low and high strength steel. 3D FE models were produced for two types of notched specimens and the crack initiation life was predicted based on a cyclic elasto-plasticity response during the cyclic loading process. Consequently, the crack propagation life was also estimated by the method extending from the assessment method of crack initiation life. An unconventional elasto-plastic model was used to investigate the notch sensitivity of cyclic plasticity behavior. Besides, the effect of material strength on fatigue life was discussed for notched specimens and the predictive life was verified against experiment results.
