[2D01-04-02] 3D Numerical Simulation of Lateral Overtopping Flows in Curved Channel Using Boundary Fitted Coordinate System
Keywords:Lateral Overflows, Boundary Fitted Coordinate System
Levee breaching is observed in the recent flood disasters, and to consider the disaster mitigation, it is of great significance to understand the flow patterns around the levee and predict the flows precisely.
In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) numerical model of open channel flows in boundary fitted coordinate system with density function method is used, and by applying the model to the previous experiments, the hydraulic characteristics of lateral overtopping flows around a side weir in curved channel are verified. The trend of the water surface profiles and velocity distributions can be simulated well.
