A tensile failure of a slope could occur under a low confining pressure, but it is not well investigated. Two charts for the safety factor of clay slopes computed by rigid-plastic finite element method considering tensile strength are presented and compared with Taylor's stability chart. The first chart is for cases without tension failure modes, similar to Taylor's chart. The second one is for cases with finite tension strength. Some differences can be observed in the failure modes and safety factors.
