On behalf of the organizing committee, thank you for attending the 56th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Developmental Biology, which was held from July 22-July 25, 2023 at Sendai International Center, Japan. The meeting has been successfully completed, having more than 500 participants in total, which was almost same as that in the annual meeting before the COVID-19 pandemic. We are grateful to the many people who attended the meeting on-site.
 
In this meeting, we tried some new attempts, allowing Japanese presentation and discussion in the oral session, the award for English oral presentation by students and a simpler banquet. A Questionnaire to the participants after the meeting showed that there are various opinions concerning those issues, and I hope the trial of this year will help JSDB to organize a better annual meeting with more of participants. Nevertheless, I think that the meeting of this year went well over all, and I would like to thank everyone who helped us.
 
See you again at the next conference in Kyoto next year.
