*Nimkar Nayana1 (1. Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences)

Symbiosis International (Deemed University) aims to promote the spirit and essence of health in the young minds of India. An innovative stride to inculcate the importance of good health and wellness to be embedded into the routines of the younger generation. This would not only develop a healthy lifestyle but also promote health consciousness to prevent the early onset of non-communicable diseases. Being physically active is key to good overall physical and mental health and is an important factor in preventing chronic disease. Symbiosis International (Deemed University) is a health promoting university as it encourages all its community members to be active and physically fit. The Department of Sports, Recreation & Wellness places emphasis on promoting Physical Literacy among all stakeholders and strives towards developing SMART, HEALTHY and ACTIVE campuses, by providing access to sporting facilities and also some unique and amazing physical activity programs that include varied pedagogical approaches to encourage participation in sports, recreation and leisure activities for its community members to move more and stay active, be it at the campus or at home.
