[1D-01] Analysis of the Relationship Between the Learning Environment and Pair Activities in Programming Education
Keywords:Programming education, Learning environment, Pair activities
In this study, we have examined the relationship between the learning environment and pair activities in the programming education of the department of Engineering. Specifically, we analyzed how the change to satellite classes due to COVID-19 affected learner behavior and learning outcomes. A subject for first-year engineering students in which the students worked on robot programming using LEGO MINDSTORMS was studied. The students paired up to deal with challenges and compete together. The analysis confirmed that social skills were acquired in satellite classes as in traditional classes. It also suggests, depending on the classroom environment, that pair activities may change when problems cannot be solved successfully.
