[5C-04] Critique of Evolution Thinking
Review and Revisions from Cultural Evolutionary and Biological Perspectives
Keywords:evolutionary thinking, cultural evolution, evolution of design
In his recent Evolution Thinking Tachikawa presents his view of evolution that diverges from the contemporary, Darwinistic approach to evolutionary biology. Here we point out the fundamental differences between the standard, variationist view of the evolutionary process and his transformationist one, through the vital distinction of biological, random mutations and cultural, sometimes non-random mutations, together with the population thinking, or lack thereof. We listed more than 250 problematic descriptions in the book and suggested ideas for improvements for future revisions.
