[6B-03] Criticism and Discussion on Shaker Design

through exhibition catalogues in New York City, Munich, and Tokyo

This study focuses on how Shaker design has got critical character to modern design. Thereat it takes up three exhibition catalogues in twentieth century: they are held in New York City, Munich, and Tokyo. Thereby, we can arrange their criticisms and discussions into following topics: (1) achievement of American Arts and Crafts movement, (2) ethic in modern design, and (3) approach to Mingei theory.
