[9B-01] Design Development of Cricket-Breeding Module

Spatial design criteria considered from prototypes of cricket breeding module

Insect diets are attracting attention as a solution to the global food crisis. We focused on the cricket farming and conducted research on the design of a breeding system. We created the breeding modules composed of truncated octahedron space-filling structure with 3D printer, and conducted series of ethological observations using European house crickets. A cell size of the breeding module can be optimized by adjusting a balance between crciket’s comfort and industrial efficiency.
