[PA-10] Study on Situation about urban development project in Phnom Penh, the Capital of Cambodia
Keywords:Urban developmen, Donut phenomenon, Phnom Penh
In Phnom Penh, capital investments from other countries have increased and development projects are underway in line with rapid post-independence population growth. While Cambodia was late in gaining independence among South-East Asian countries, its geographical characteristics have made it a target for investments from neighboring countries. This paper presents an overview of the development projects that have been actively promoted since the beginning of the 21st century. The findings of the demographics and eight major project surveys revealed a doughnut effect, with a declining population in the city center and a growing population in the suburbs. The results of this study provide insight into the future direction of urban planning in Phnom Penh, based on current development projects.
