[2P05] MD Simulation on Exfoliation of Carbon Fiber-Resin Interface in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics
Prediction of destruction of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs) is difficult due to its complex structure and the knowledge about the failure from microscale is required. In this study, we investigated mechanical properties of CFRPs using the molecular dynamics simulation, focusing particularly on exfoliation of the carbon fiber/resin interface in CFRPs. We found that the maximum stress is about 107MPa that is in good agreement with an experimental result. In addition, we performed a structural analysis of the interface and clarified the unique structure of the resin.
