[1Da05] Scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy studies of monolayer FeTe on SrTiO3(001)-√13×√13
Bulk FeTe has an antiferromagnetic ground state combined with Kondo-lattice behavior. We performed scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/STS) measurements (5 ~ 77 K) to investigate the properties of the monolayer FeTe grown on SrTiO3-√ 13⨯√ 13. We found C2 symmetric 2⨯ 3 patterns arranged in √ 13⨯√ 13 periodicities in the atomically resolved STM images, breaking the C4 rotational symmetry of the FeTe square lattice. The STS spectra show dip-like features near the Fermi level, which are fitted well with an asymmetric Fano line shape, illustrating a Kondo scenario that local Fe spins interact with the conduction electrons. And the SrTiO3-√ 13⨯√ 13 substrate locally weakens the interaction by structural distortion. Our results clearly show the non-negligible role of the substrate surface in the antiferromagnetic ground state of monolayer FeTe and the detail will be shown in the presentation.
