Topological crystalline insulators (TCIs) are materials that host both metallic surfaces and insulating bulk due to crystal mirror symmetry instead of time-reversal symmetry in conventional topological insulators. Recently, a superconducting (SC) TCI has been predicted to possess multiple Majorana zero modes (MZMs), which can encode more qubits in quantum computation. To create and manipulate multiple MZMs effectively in an SC/TCI heterostructure, a high-quality homogeneous interface and surface are essential. Despite its promise, experimental exploration is still lacking due to its novelty and fabrication challenges. In this study, we successfully grew a single crystalline a-few-layer thick α-Sn(111) on a typical TCI, SnTe(111), by molecular beam epitaxy. Then, we observed superconductivity in samples with more than 3-layer-α-Sn, and it has 2-dimensional SC properties. Detailed results, including one- to two-band transitions and large in-plane critical magnetic fields exceeding the Pauli limit, will be presented.
