[2Bp04] Non-contact atomic force microscopy study of line defect on rutile TiO2(110)-(1×2) reconstructed surface
TiO2(110)-(1×2) surface has a distinctive oxygen vacancy of the line defect. We evaluate the structure and charge of the line defect by combining atomic force microscopy and theoretical calculations to understand the photocatalytic reactivity of the line defect. Imaging patterns of the line defect depending on tip polarity suggest that the line defect has a charge. We determined the charge polarity of the line defect by measurements of the local contact potential difference with atomic force microscopy.
