[2Cp05] Crucial effects of surface defect states on the halide perovskites properties and their solar cells characteristics
Halide perovskites exhibit interesting optical and electronic properties and show potential for various applications including solar cells. While halide perovskite solar cells (PSC) can achieve a high power conversion efficiency (PCE), the reproducibility and long-term stability remain major problems. One crucial factor is the presence of structural defects on the grain surface or interface, which can arise during the formation of the perovskite layer and multilayer/junction structure, storage, and device operation. As direct determination of defects is still not easy to be carried out, we have investigated the effects of surface defects and defect states on the PSC characteristics using transient photovoltage spectroscopy (TPV) and impedance photovoltage spectroscopy (IMVS). We will describe here the implementation of these measurements to investigate the effects of surface defect states in PSC on the charge carrier transport and collection, as well as the PSC characteristics.
