わが国における表層型メタンハイドレートの研究開発「表層型メタンハイドレートの研究開発事業」が進められている．本研究では，揚収技術のひとつとして考えられているガスリフト方式を取り上げ，揚収時のメタンハイドレート塊の分解を考慮したモデルを，著者らが深海底鉱物資源開発用エアリフトシステムの性能解析に使用しているプログラム（一次元ドリフトフラックスモデル）に組み込み，生産（揚収）量予測の試計算を試みた．
