[S08] Frontiers in medicinal chemistry research through protein engineering

Sat. Mar 26, 2022 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM [Room B] Conference Room 131+132 (Bldg. 1: 3F)

Organizer: Takahiro Mori (Grad. Sch. Pharm. Sci. Univ. Tokyo), Kenichi Matsuda (Facult. Pharm. Sci. Hokkaido Univ.)

Proteins are fundamental molecules for life, as they control most of the biochemical reactions inside and outside cells. Recent developments of the technologies for the analysis of functional proteins and enzymes in living organisms enable us to understand the biological phenomena with high resolution. Therefore, the next stage would be how we use these knowledge for pharmaceutical sciences. Protein engineering, including rational design of artificial enzymes and imaging technology using engineered functional proteins, is a powerful tool to develop more useful biomolecules to be used in biotechnological process.
In this symposium, six young researchers in the field of protein engineering will present their latest results. This symposium covers the front line of a broad range of medicinal chemistry researches, including functional and structural analysis, combinatorial biosynthesis, design of artificial enzyme, and development of fluorescent labeling technology using functional protein. These topics can bring renewed attention to this research field, and would enhance an expansive cross-cutting research for the future of pharmaceutical science.

オーガナイザー挨拶:森 貴裕(東大院薬) (1:30 PM - 1:33 PM)

総括:松田 研一(北大院薬) (3:27 PM - 3:30 PM)
