[S29] New-generation drug innovation by focusing on elements chemistry: development of innovative biofunctional molecules based on multi-elemental compounds

Sun. Mar 27, 2022 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM [Room O] Conference Room 234 (Bldg. 2: 3F)

Organizer: Kiminori Ohta (Showa Univ., Sch. Pharm.), Shinya Fujii (IBB, TMDU)

Recent progress in the biochemical technology, such as antibodies, nucleic acids, cellular medicines and gene therapy, provides new modalities in drug discovery. In contrast to the breakthrough of these new modalities, the presence of low-molecular-weight (small-molecule) drugs seems to be getting smaller. However, in recent years, the development of novel biofunctional molecules by taking advantages of the characteristics of various elements have been reported, and therefore unexplored potential of small molecules has attracted much attention. In this symposium, we will focus on the development of novel biofunctional molecules and bioengineering technologies based on the elements-chemistry approach. Development of bioactive molecules bearing hexacoordinated sulfur fluorides, bioorganometallics of organoantimony compounds, and novel bioengineering technology using boron functionalities will be presented. From the multi-elemental and cross-cutting perspective, development of new methodology and novel chemical modalities of small molecules for drug innovation will be also discussed.

オーガナイザー挨拶:太田 公規(昭和大薬) (1:30 PM - 1:32 PM)

総括:藤井 晋也(医科歯科大生材研) (3:27 PM - 3:30 PM)
