[S38] Novel health impact of fine particles in the environment

It has been a long time since the health effects of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) have been discussed. PM2.5 taken up by breathing reaches the lungs through the respiratory tract, exacerbating respiratory disorders such as asthma and bronchitis, and increasing the risk of lung cancer. In Japan, mainly considering the risk of PM2.5 to the respiratory tract, the environmental standard "the annual average value is 15 μg/m³ or less, and the daily average value is 35 μg/m³ or less" was determined. On the other hand, it is unclear whether PM2.5 affects other organs than respiratory tract. Study on welded fume and airborne microplastics has been delayed. In this symposium, we will talk on (1) effects of PM2.5 on the central nervous system and its interaction with neurological disorders, (2) biomarker research of air pollution on dermal skin to protect yourself from them, (3) the health effects of fume generated during welding and (4) Dynamics and health effects of microplastics in the atmosphere. We would like to discuss deeply about health effects by exposure to different types of fine particles.
