[S41] Use of artificial intelligence in drug discovery and medicine

We held symposium entitled "Use of Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery and Pharmaceutical Technology" online at the 141st Annual Meeting of The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan, which was well attended. In this symposium, we extend the content from last year and hold "Application of Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery, Pharmaceutical Technology and Medicine". Artificial intelligence (AI) technology, including deep learning, is ever-evolving and is causing major changes in society. This trend is also true in the fields of drug discovery, pharmaceutical technology and medicine, where digital innovation and digital transformation are occurring. From this background, we planned lectures by four symposiasts to consider the use and future development of AI in drug discovery, pharmaceutical technology and medicine. Firstly, Prof. Yamanishi presents "Data-driven drug discovery and molecular design by AI". Secondly, Prof. Sekijima introduces "Application and advancement of artificial intelligence for drug development". Thirdly, Prof. Yamashita gives a lecture entitled "Effective Machine Learning Based on Existing Concepts: case studies in pharmaceutics". Lastly, Prof. Arima gives a talk entitled "Overview of AI applications in drug discovery, pharmaceutical technology, and medicine". We hope that this symposium will help the participants in their research, development, and professional activities in the fields of drug discovery, drug development, and medicine.
