Casting and forging of high-silicon stainless steel have already been used in practical applications. However, high-silicon stainless steel components manufactured using powder metallurgy processes have not been used practically yet. The additive manufacturing process can be used for high- silicon stainless steel. In this study, laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) was applied to precipitation hardening stainless steel containing 3.5% silicon. A process window for the high-silicon alloy via the L-PBF was proposed, and built objects with a relative density of 99% were fabricated. Furthermore, the effect of heat treatment on the mechanical properties of built objects was studied. As a result of this study, built objects with hardness equivalent to a conventional forged material were obtained using the heat treatment.
