[S10-01] Time of occurence of disturbance of water surface in China on the day of the 1854 Ansei Nankai Earthquake

*Kentaro HATTORI1 (1. Kansai University)

Utsu (1977, 1988) pointed out that seiche and well oscillations were observed in East China on the day of the 1854 Ansei Nankai earthquake. On the other hand, the events might be influenced by the tsunami. Investigation of the time of occurrence of the disturbance of the water surface in China seems to make it possible to determine whether or not there were tsunami effects.
In this study, we examined Chinese records on the day of the 1854 Ansei Nankai Earthquake with the help of collections of Chinese meteorological records "A compendium of Chinese meteorological records of the last 3,000 years published in 2004. The result shown in Fig. 1 will be discussed.
