[P1-23] Clinical Analysis of 8 Children with Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate Receptor Encephalitis

[Objective] To identify the clinical features and the prognosis of anti-NMDAR encephalitis in children, so as to improve the pediatrician’s awareness about this disease.
[Methods] The clinical features, cerebrospinal fluid features, the treatment method and prognosis of 8 children with anti-NMDAR encephalitis were summarized by a retrospective and follow-up study, from Feb.2015 to May.2016.
[Results] Among the 8 children with anti-NMDAR encephalitis, all were females, with the age from 3 to 13 years old.The most common initial symptoms were convulsions (6 cases) and psychiatric symptoms (2 cases). The other symptoms included sleep disorders, extrapyramidal symptoms, disorder of consciousness and autonomic symptoms.The anti-NMDAR antibody were found in all the patients’CSF. The EEG test of 8 cases showed diffused slow background. 1case had ovary tumours. All cases were treated with IVIG and methylprednisolone. The patients had been followed up for 6 to 12 months.7 cases of them recovered completely, 1 case had epilepsy.1case had ovary tumours, recovering completely after operation.
[Conclusion] Convulsions, psychiatric symptoms, sleep disorders, extrapyramidal symptoms, autonomic symptoms are the common symptoms of anti-NMDAR encephalitis in children. Ovary tumors may happen. Immunotherapy is effective in the majority of the patients.Patients with ovary tumors must be received operation. The prognosis of anti-NMDAR encephalitis in children is optimistic.
