TRU模擬物質としてUを用いてU-40wt%Zrの電解挙動を評価している。
合金からのU優先溶解を工学的に成立させるためには電流密度を低く抑える必要があることが分かったため、U,Zr同時溶解による電解精製試験を実施しその挙動を検討した。
