Eutectic reactions between group-4 metal borides and stainless steel were examined with thermal analysis, comparing to boron carbide. The reaction temperatures ranged around 1200~1300℃, but the reaction rates for group-4 metal borides were slower than that of boron carbide. This suggested that group-4 metal borides would be suitable as control material.
