[1L14] Role of Polymeric Coating of Gold Nanoparticles in their Transport Through Natural Barriers

In this work, different core-sized gold nanoparticles stabilized with polyethylene glycol were studied in batch and column experiments. It was seen that their deposition behavior and transport behavior through quartz-sand media is controlled by their stabilizing polymeric coatings.
Furthermore, aggregation behavior was observed in the column effluents as was seen in the spectroscopical studies (UV-vis).
Finally, these findings can help in understanding how the polymeric layer will guide us to a rational use of polymeric-stabilized gold nanoparticles for a particular application by tuning the polymeric layer length and grafting density,
