As part of research and development at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant decommissioning, aiming to improve the safety of the radioactive waste long-term storage containers containing radioactive materials such as fuel debris and zeolite slurry, to suppress the risk of combustion of the flammable gas (hydrogen) which generates by decomposition of water by radiation, R&D on technology to reduce concentration of hydrogen by using the passive autocatalytic recombiner (PAR) has been performed. In this presentation we describe the development of hydrogen recombination catalyst with platinum supported on geopolymer.
