[1O11] R&D on Reduction Technologies of Hydrogen Generated in Long-Term Waste Storage Containers
(4)Porosity and pore size control of multifunction geopolymer foam
Keywords:radioactive waste, geopolymer, foam
To improve the safety of the radioactive waste long-term storage containers for radioactive fuel debris and zeolite slurry from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and to utilize contaminated soil, passive autocatalytic recombiner (PAR) using porous geopolymer catalyst support is developed. In this presentation, we describe a control method of open porosity in geopolymer by optimizing viscosity of slurry. The results showed open porosity was increased from 43 to 81% by increasing the viscosity. From scanning electron microscopy observations, pores in the geopolymer connected with increasing the viscosity, which should be the reason to increase the open porosity.
