Pt nanoparticles on an ion-beam-irradiated carbon support have a high ORR activity and durability. This improvement in the catalytic performance would originate from the unique Pt/C interface involving irradiation defects. In this work, we performed XAFS measurements to analyze the interfacial local structure.
